Layla Dougherty, Tinker FCU
In this session, Layla shares a basic overview of copyright and infringement; as well as legal items that relate to contests and marketing. She also discusses why it is important for marketers to perform thorough contract review of their third party partners.
About Layla Dougherty
Layla J. Dougherty is assistant general counsel for Tinker Federal Credit Union. She oversees a range of legal functions that include compliance, employment issues, contract negotiation and policy review.
She was previously in private practice, where her primary focus was on contracts, creditor’s rights and bankruptcy. Dougherty graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor of musical arts in violin performance in 1996. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma in 2000.
She has actively participated on numerous civic boards and committees throughout her career, including serving as president for the Oklahoma City Commercial Lawyers League. Currently, Dougherty sits on the board of directors for the Bankruptcy and Reorganization Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association. She served as vice-chair in 2011 and chairwoman in 2012.
In addition to her membership with the Oklahoma Bar Association and all Oklahoma Federal District courts, Dougherty is licensed to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She is often a guest speaker for continuing legal education classes for the Oklahoma Bar Association, Oklahoma Bankers Association and various financial institutions.
