Wednesday, March 27, 2013 5:20 AM

The Texas Credit Union League (TCUL), Texas Credit Union Foundation (TCUF) and the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions (Federation) have teamed up to provide two educational sessions that will highlight the innovative work being done to bring affordable, yet sustainable financial services to low-income consumers and underserved communities.

Credit unions that currently hold or qualify for a low-income designation are encouraged to take advantage of this information-packed workshop that is being offered April 29 in Dallas and April 30 in Houston.  The one-day workshop is being offered at just $75 per attendee.  Lunch will be provided.

Topics to be explored include:

  • Putting your low-income designation to work for your credit union and your members
  • How to leverage a CDFI Certification to access more external resources
  • A case study of a successful local low-income credit union
  • Tools and programs available for low-income and CDFI certified credit unions
  • Resources available from the Texas Credit Union Foundation for low-income credit unions

Credit unions interested in registering should contact Linda Winkfein, CCUE, vice president of TCUL’s small credit union department, at (800) 442-5762, ext. 6451 or lwinkfein@tcul.coop.  Credit unions can also contact Lorri Gaither, assistant vice president of TCUL’s small credit union department, at (800) 442-5762, ext. 6423 or lgaither@tcul.coop.
