Longtime Texas Partners FCU Employee Linda Garvin Retires
Monday, September 28, 2015 6:55 AM

Linda Garvin

Thirty-five-year credit union veteran Linda Garvin has announced that she will retire from Texas Partners Federal Credit Union, effective October 1. During her tenure, Garvin has held the titles of teller, loan officer, real estate loan officer, vice president of the Plaza branch, vice president of loans, chief lending officer, and chief operations officer.

“I began my credit union career as a teller when we were still Fort Hood Federal Credit Union, and we were located on Gilmer Street in Killeen," said Garvin, reflecting on her time with the credit union. "The next year we celebrated our 25th anniversary by moving to our current location and renaming the credit union, Hoodview. What I value most is that I was able to help people—members and employees—through all stages of life… helping people and watching them grow and be successful."

Texas Partners CEO Gary Straley said, “Linda has been a valued member of the Texas Partners family. Her legacy is how much she cared about our members and about our employees. Her contributions over the years are reflected in the success of the credit union.”

Over the course of her 35-year run, Garvin was instrumental in the achievement of much growth, including the credit union’s expansion into new markets with branches in Copperas Cove, Belton, and Temple; increased service offerings; and the adoption of a community charter to broaden membership eligibility.

Garvin has great passion for the credit union movement and its guiding principles. She embraced “cooperation among credit unions” by regularly attending meetings of the Central Texas Chapter of Credit Unions and serving multiple terms as an officer, including secretary, vice president, and president. She earned her Certified Credit Union Executive designation in 1992 and graduated from Southwest CUNA Management School in 1994.

Garvin has also been very active in the community. She served on various boards, volunteered for many organizations and events, and participated in fundraising, especially the Children’s Miracle Network. Linda was honored in 2003 by the Globe Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association as their Business Associate of the Year.

The credit union will celebrate Garvin’s career with an open house reception on Oct. 1 between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. at the Killeen branch, 1011 Wales Drive. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome! For more information, contact the credit union at (254) 526-3081.
