Longtime Employee of Red River Employees FCU Passes Away

Doug W. Norton, senior vice president of Red River Employees Federal Credit Union and resident of Red Lick, Texas, passed away on March 18, 2016, at the age of 67. 

Norton was an integral part of the credit union management team since 1973, advancing to senior vice president in 1989. During his Red River career, Norton helped form Red River Member Service Group, the credit union's CUSO. He served as a director on the CUSO Management Committee and on the Asset Liability Management Committee.

“Doug Norton was a dedicated employee for 42 years," said Robert Buck, president and CEO. "He has been instrumental in the growth we have experienced in the last several years. For myself, he was a trusted friend and colleague. Doug will be missed greatly.”

Norton was an avid supporter of Texarkana youth baseball, volunteering as a coach for many years. He is a native of Texarkana and survived by his wife Debbie Vaughan Norton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lawren Marie and Manning Fendrich, and Lissa Michelle and Mike Cherry Jr.; one son and daughter-in-law, Max Eli and Stacie Norton; his mother, Neoma Norton; four grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
