Wednesday, June 4, 2014 6:50 AM

Sharon McKinzie

Community Resource CU(CRCU) is announcing the retirement of a credit union icon. Sharon McKinzie, who has 45 years of service with the credit union, will be retiring June 27th.

Her career started as a part-time teller in 1968 and evolved from there. Over the past four decades she has held several positions within CRCU and gained experience in numerous departments including new accounts, collections, loans, and bookkeeping. Her roles included senior vice president, COO, project coordinator, vice president of operations and membership, and bookkeeping supervisor. Her current role is senior vice president, special projects.

McKinzie is credited for the installation of the first CRCU ATM and implemented the first bookkeeping department.

A graduate of Southwest CUNA Management School (SCMS) in 1986, McKinzie spent several years serving the Cornerstone Credit Union League as an SCMS instructor. She assisted the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions with the implementation of the educational session or “mini” session as they were then called.  Additionally, she facilitated strategic planning sessions as well as motivational and training presentations for credit unions in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

“Sharon’s contributions are many and she has been an integral part of CRCU’s success over the last 45 years,” says CEO David Frazier. “She has been a great resource and will be missed.”

The credit union will honor McKinzie for her service June 27, from 2-4 p.m., at its 2900 Decker Drive location in Baytown. The credit union says anyone interested in attending is welcome to do so.
