Compliance Updates Effective Sept. 1 for Texas Credit Unions

Please remember that most of the bills passed in the Texas Legislative Session become effective 9/1/17! The good news is, the session went well for credit unions. That said, there are a few issues you need to be aware of. If you missed the Texas legislative session webinar we ran in July, it has been archived.

Pending Regulatory Comment Calls

The following table shows pending regulatory proposals quickly coming to deadline. Cornerstone and Credit Union National Association will be submitting comments. Credit unions are encouraged to use PowerComment to file comment letters with regulators.

Cornerstone Disaster Response Update for Sept. 1

Cornerstone’s disaster response team continues to work around the clock to determine the needs of affected credit unions, while managing offers of assistance to those in need. Cornerstone staff is incredibly grateful to those from across the country that have already offered to help in so many different and creative ways, from donating to CUAid and the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation to offering virtual offices, equipment, and temporary staff. Some are also donating requested items like water and car seats. And that's just for starters.

FREE Document Shredding Event in Houston Postponed to Nov. 4

Resource One in Houston, Texas, is postponing their free document shredding event scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8, to due to weather and flooding conditions in the area. The next free document shredding event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to bring their personal documents to shred onsite at no cost. 

CUNA Donates $50,000 to CUAid for Harvey Relief

Credit Union National Association announced Thursday that it is donating $50,000 to Harvey relief efforts through CUAid, the National Credit Union Foundation’s disaster relief system.
