InfoSight Highlight: ACH Third-Party Senders

NACHA amended their Operating Rules to require Originating Depository Financial Institutions (ODFIs) to identify and register their third-party sender members. However, even credit unions that do not conduct third-party origination are still required to register and acknowledge that in a statement to NACHA. These changes become effective on Sept. 29, 2017, which is the day the registry opens. Credit unions have an implementation period through March 1, 2018, to register all of their third-party senders.

Cornerstone and CUNA Analyzing CFPB's Short-Term, Small-Dollar Rule

Cornerstone Credit Union League and Credit Union National Association are analyzing the short-term, small-dollar loan rule just released by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. CUNA and Cornerstone had numerous concerns with the rule as originally proposed, not least of which was that it could rob consumers of safe and affordable alternatives to predatory loans.

CUNA Files Lawsuit Against Equifax

CUNA filed its lawsuit Wednesday against Equifax, a suit brought in the wake of a data breach resulting in hackers accessing information on 145.5 million consumers and payment card data of more than 200,000 consumers.
