League Seeks Applications for Young Professionals Advisors Group
Monday, August 5, 2013 5:45 AM

YP Advisors

If you are a credit union professional under the age of 35, and are interested in helping catalyze change in the system, as well as spark positive growth in our communities, the Cornerstone Credit Union League (League) has the perfect role for you. Through Aug. 23, the League is accepting applications for its Young Professionals (YP) Advisors group.

The YP Advisors group was created because Cornerstone recognizes the criticality of attracting, retaining, and grooming young credit union professionals who have a drive, and passion for making a difference. YP Advisors are change-makers. They are hard-working, participatory, ambitious, empathetic, social, self-starters, objective, and creative. They are not “fence sitters.”

Serving the movement in this capacity will give you an opportunity to “get your hands dirty,” implementing programs that engage and empower other young credit union professionals, as well as gain access to specific league training and networking opportunities. The YP Advisors is an incubator designed to bring the brightest young credit union minds within Cornerstone together around three goals:

  • Incite positive change for the future
  • Break down barriers to collaboration
  • Bring new perspective to the credit union system

The recipe for how you will spend your time breaks down like this:

  • Two parts project-focused working group
  • One part think tank for the credit union system
  • One part advisory group to the League

Upon reviewing all applications, Cornerstone will select finalists, and those finalists will be scheduled for a face-time interview. If you are chosen to be a member of the YP Advisors, please note that you will need to be available for:

  • At least four in-person workshops per year with travel costs covered (location may vary)
  • Commitment to execute many projects over the course of your term
  • Ongoing phone and online conversations

To apply by the Aug. 23 deadline, simply visit the CUYP website. While you are there, register for the YP blog and forum.
