Tuesday, June 7, 2016 6:50 AM

Texas Community Federal Credit Union has announced that on Feb. 5, 2016, the National Credit Union Administration Office of Consumer Protection approved an expansion of its community charter to serve a rural district consisting of Brooks, Jim Wells, Kenedy, and Kleberg Counties.

The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally announce the renaming of the credit union at noon on June 15, 605 East Caesar Avenue in Kingsville, Texas, with a reception to follow the ceremony until 3 p.m.

In accordance with the Federal Credit Union Bylaws, the board of directors adopted the amendment at a specially held board meeting on Feb. 17. On May 18, at a specially held board meeting, directors formally approved the certificate of amendment of charter, thus officially changing the credit union's name to Texas Community Federal Credit Union.

This expansion increases the credit union's potential membership to 81,137, based on U.S. Census Bureau population estimates.
