It's Not Too Late to Make Plans for Hike the Hill
Monday, June 1, 2015 6:20 AM

Hike the HillYou still have time! Hike the Hill takes place in Washington, DC, on June 22–24, and that means you still have time to take advantage of this annual opportunity. The credit union movement needs your participation to make our advocacy efforts a success for all credit unions.

This year, the agenda is divided between legislative and regulatory concerns, and one day on Capitol Hill for legislative meetings. As credit unions continue to struggle with increasing regulatory burdens, this event provides the perfect opportunity to speak up and let your collective voices be heard with the agencies that regulate us. Cornerstone advocates will meet with NCUA, CFPB, and other agencies.

The CFPB's Gary Stein will speak to visiting credit unions regarding the overdraft project; and Ricky Alwine, supervisory special agent in the FBI Cyber Division, Major Cyber Crimes Unit will speak on data security.

While there is no fee to attend Hike the Hill, we ask that you please visit the Cornerstone League website to register for the event. You’ll note there is a place to indicate who your member of Congress is as well as which lawmakers you’d like to visit. This information is critical to us as we schedule Capitol Hill visits.

Gather your essential advocacy staff and begin planning your trip now. As you make your travel plans, keep in mind that the first event is a welcome reception on Monday evening, June 22, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Hike the Hill will wrap up on Wednesday afternoon, June 24, at the conclusion of Hill visits.

If you have questions about this event or would like to make hotel reservations, please contact Gretchen Ziegler at 469-385-6484 or
