InTouch CU Collects 1,000+ Pounds of Goods for Local Food Banks
Thursday, December 3, 2015 6:55 AM

The Thanksgiving holiday is a time of coming together, pausing to express appreciation and taking a moment to reflect on the communal spirit our loved ones provide. This year, InTouch Credit Union wanted to share thanks with their surrounding communities through a month-long food drive across five states, culminating in more than 1,000 pounds of goods collected from their staff and membership.

With donations collected from Oct. 1 through Nov. 7, the ITCU family was able to provide meals for more than 800 individuals around the nation. Forgotten Harvest (Michigan), Three Square (Nevada), Mid-South Food Bank (Tennessee), North Texas Food Bank (Texas), and Capital Area Food Bank (Virginia) received their respective goods in November and distributed items to disadvantaged families in time for the Thanksgiving celebration.

“Our commitment to our communities extends well beyond our branches and the financial services we provide,” says Diane Gerstner, EVP/EOO with InTouch Credit Union. “For us to be able to give back to our neighborhoods, especially during the holidays, is an opportunity I’m honored to see our staff and our members take advantage of by making donations for our local food banks.”

ITCU is already looking forward to continuing to embody the “people helping people” philosophy of the credit union movement, with hopes to raise an even higher total of donations for next November.
