James Reed Level

Credit union veteran James "Jim" Reed Level, of Springtown, Texas, was born June 19, 1932, and passed away peacefully at his beloved farm on Aug. 28, 2018.

Level spent many of his early years inside credit unions and then joined the Texas Credit Union League as a league representative in 1962. He enjoyed a long career in the industry, until his retirement in 2005.

"Jim was the Members Insurance consultant for Fort Worth and Central Texas when I started," recalled Texas Credit Union Association President Jim Huffman. "One of the nicest and funniest guys I ever met. Loved golf and credit unions, gave more than he took, and made time for rookies at the League to show them the ropes. He was one of those people who was the glue that held the League and CUs together."

Cornerstone Credit Union League's Debbie Rightmire, VP asset/liability management, said of Level, "I remember his sense of humor. He could make Charles Idol roll on the ground laughing. He was a funny guy."

Level was a proud graduate of Texas Christian University and a veteran of the Korean War.

The staff at Cornerstone offer sincere condolences to Mr. Level's family, friends, and credit union associates, and we extend our thanks for his many years of service to the credit union movement.
