In Memoriam: Credit Union Leader Paul Allan Mitchell
Monday, March 5, 2018 7:00 AM

Paul Allan Mitchell was born in Houston, Texas, Feb. 24, 1939, and passed away on Feb. 25, 2018, after a valiant struggle with Leukemia (AML). A visitation and service was held today at the Klein Funeral Chapel Cy-Fair in Houston.

Mitchell had a distinguished 45-year career in credit unions. He served as president of the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions, chairman of Members Insurance, Town North Bank, and the Texas Credit Union League where, in 2004, he was inducted to the Texas Credit Union Hall of Fame. Mitchell served as a national director for the Credit Union National Association prior to its current CUNA structure, and he was a mentor to many fellow credit union managers.

He spent his high school years in Medina, Texas, and he loved the Hill Country and the small town where he and his wife Sandra were high school sweethearts. They married August 22, 1959, and shared 58 years making wonderful memories traveling, cruising, and spending lots of time with family and friends. Mitchell was proud Pawpaw to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mitchell loved his ranch in Giddings and would spend as much time there as possible with family, friends, and his special group called the Old Geezers. There was never a job too big for him. He amazed everyone with his hard work and determination.

Paul Mitchell was a great supporter of the law enforcement community. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Assist the Officer, Inc., 1600 State Street, Houston, 77007, or visit and donate online.
