'15 Minutes in the Economy'
Help wipe out hunger with a Chapter-wide food drive. The economic recession hit hard families across the country, and many of these families have and continue to turn to food banks to stave off hunger. The Cornerstone Credit Union League is encouraging credit unions to host a Chapter-wide food drive, with a Oct. 17 kick-off. Oct. 17 is International Credit Union Day, and credit unions within each Chapter will be asked to provide in all of their lobbies a box where members and the community can drop off non-perishable food items. The food drive will run October 17 - November 15.
The League is providing a tool kit. Materials include a signage for your food box, poster (11 x 17), flier (8x11), table topper, web banner, and email template. With the holidays just around the corner and many food banks running low on food supply, this type of collaborative activity is a wonderful way to let the community know that when it comes to solving a social need in the community, the cooperative nature of credit unions allows them to work together effectively as a group.
