How You Can Make an Impact with Credit Unions Care

Credit Unions Care

Credit unions did a fantastic job during the initial phases of the Credit Unions Care campaign. The first round of “donation dog” sales was impressive, and excitement from each CU Ride motorcycle tour rose to a nice crescendo at the last Children's Miracle Network hospital in Little Rock. But we have much left to do.

As we move forward, we are still raising money for CMN to reach our2016 goal; and during the holiday season, many opportunities will arise for credit unions to make an impact.

We challenge you to think about your next opportunity to combine the credit union motto, people helping people, with the Credit Unions Care campaign—because credit unions care! How will you spread the message? Who will you recruit to help you do that?

If you haven't already obtained your red CUs Care T-shirts and promotional resources, be sure to go online and put in your orders here. When large numbers of people dressed in the red T-shirts enter any space, they make an enormous impact. That gets credit unions noticed and allows us to do our good work with the community's support.

Expand your marketing and public relations efforts with Credit Unions Care. Here are some ideas for engaging with your community, raising money for Credit Unions Care and the Children's Miracle Network, and getting your credit union noticed:

  • Sell the stuffed dogs as stocking stuffers
  • Have staff red T-shirt days in your offices
  • Surprise people buying their groceries for an hour at a grocery store
  • Deliver candy and/or cookies to a nursing home
  • Visit a local hospital with gifts or treats for patients
  • Surprise people at gas pumps with gift cards
  • Schedule a group trip to the blood bank and make donations
  • Organize a financial education seminar and/or retirement fair for members
  • Deliver cases of water to your fire department (most cities DO NOT provide water bottles for their firefighters!)

What are some other ideas you can come up with? Share with us what you're doing to promote credit unions through Credit Unions Care, and while you're at it, alert us so Cornerstone can track the contributions.

Make an impact. Show your members, your communities, and your leadership that Credit Unions Care isn't just a campaign slogan. It's our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve.
