Houston Chapter Star Advocates and Rep. Poe
Monday, April 29, 2013 10:15 AM

U.S. Congressman Ted Poe (R-2nd District) was the featured guest at the Houston Chapter of Credit Union’s meeting last week. Rep. Poe, a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the House Committee on the Judiciary, was first elected to Congress in 2004. During his tenure, he has been a staunch supporter of credit unions.

In keeping with the meeting's advocacy theme, Houston-area winners of the Star Advocate award were recognized for their outstanding support of the Texas Credit Union League's Political Action Committee and grassroots advocacy.

More than 100 chapter attendees listened to Rep. Poe talk about a day in the life of a congressman, relate stories about the work he has conducted on behalf of the Foreign Affairs and Judiciary committees, and explain why it's essential to be an active participant in the political process by meeting with your lawmakers and calling them to voice your opinions on issues. The Houston chapter was delighted to have a champion of the credit union movement as part of their chapter meeting and awards ceremony.
