House Seat for San Antonio Area Up for Vote in Jan. 26 Runoff
Friday, January 22, 2016 7:00 AM

The San Antonio area will elect a new representative for House District 118 on Jan. 26, filling the seat previously held by Joe Farias who retired in June 2015. A special election was held Nov. 3, 2015, but no candidate won enough votes so the top two vote-getters, John Lujan and Tomas Uresti, will meet in the runoff.

Republican John Lujan is a retired firefighter who owns an internet technology business and volunteers in his community and church. Democrat Tomas Uresti, a long-time school board trustee for the Harlandale ISD, is the brother of Sen. Carlos Uresti and Albert Uresti, Tax Assessor Collector of Bexar County.
