Here's Your Opportunity to Putt for a Purpose and Raise Funds for Children's Miracle Network
Thursday, March 17, 2016 7:00 AM

Putting Fore a PurposePlease join us at the Annual Meeting Tournament as we "Putt Fore a Purpose."

Preceding the Annual Meeting and Expo on Monday, April 4, credit unions and other organizations will gather to play a four-person scramble at the Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond, Oklahoma, to raise money to support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with lunch at 11:00 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at noon. The cost is $175 per person. There will be great giveaways as well as awards for first, second, and third place; the longest drive; and closest to the pin.

To kick off the tournament, we’ll have special guest Samantha Lancaster, a recipient of a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s care. In May 2013, Samantha was diagnosed with a Chiari malformation with syringomeyelia and scoliosis. The Chiari malformation is an abnormality in the lower part of the brain called the cerebellum where it hangs into the spinal cord. Syringomyelia is a disorder in which a cyst forms within the spinal cord due to the restricted flow of spinal fluid.  Symptoms are back pain, migraines, numbness, and dizziness, as well as various sporadic pains.

In August 2013, Samantha underwent decompression surgery, a procedure performed to remove some bone at the back of the skull to increase space for the cerebellum and to increase spinal fluid flow. As there is currently no cure for Samantha’s conditions, she hopes that one day soon doctors will discover a cure.

Samantha participates in Girl Scouts, AWANAS, singing, and drama. She is a sweet girl who enjoys mostly helping others, raising awareness of her conditions, and helping to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
