Health Care Reform Webinar Slated for April 9
Wednesday, March 5, 2014 6:30 AM

Cornerstone Credit Union League’s HR Council is hosting a “Health Care Reform” webinar April 9, from 2-3 p.m. Central Time. This one-hour program is an excellent opportunity for credit union HR professionals to learn the facts and better understand how the Affordable Care Act is affecting their credit union.

The Affordable Care Act started changing the country’s health care system almost from the moment it was signed into law in March 2010. It has already expanded coverage for young adults by allowing them to stay on their parents’ plans until they turn 26; outlawed lifetime limits on what insurance will cover; lowered the cost of drugs for seniors on Medicare; caused 13 million consumers to get premium rebates totaling some $1.1 billion; and expanded access to free preventive care for patients of all ages. Last summer, it also survived a challenge in the U.S. Supreme Court.

However, all that was prelude to the transformations and requirements that went into effect in 2014, requiring all Americans to have access to affordable health insurance that covers essential care.  In this session, presenter Rena Jenkins, J.D., LL.M., area assistant vice president of compliance counsel with Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc., South Central Region, will discuss how these requirements affect your credit union and what you should be doing to ensure you’re in compliance.

Jenkins joined Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc. in July, 2013. She is a Chicago native and received a BA in Mathematics from DePaul University in 1999. Upon graduation, she worked for three large consulting firms as an actuarial benefits analyst until she attended law school in 2003.

The educational investment for the April 9 webinar is $50 HR Council members and $75 non-HR Council members. Please note the $75 educational investment includes a 2014 HR Council membership. This webinar is pre-approved for up to one (1) HRCI recertification credit.
