Happy International Credit Union Day!
Thursday, October 15, 2015 7:00 AM

ICU Day - People Helping People

Today we celebrate a special day in the credit union movement—International Credit Union Day. Since 1948, the international credit union community has observed its proud history and promoted awareness of and support for the credit union difference. We also honor those who have dedicated their lives to the movement, recognize the hard work of those working in the credit union industry, and show members our appreciation.

Governors from all three states in the Cornerstone region have made official proclamations declaring Oct. 15, 2015, as Credit Union Day. Gov. Mary Fallin in Oklahoma, Gov. Asa Hutchinson in Arkansas, and Gov. Greg Abbott in Texas have announced their support and acknowledged the many contributions of credit unions to the communities they serve.

This year’s theme, “People Helping People,” reinforces and emphasizes the benefits of cooperation among credit unions worldwide. It also speaks to the powerful global network of credit unions, which no other financial network can claim, and the advantages that result from sharing challenges, experiences, and solutions with one another to better serve members.
