Monday, December 8, 2014 7:00 AM

Gulf Coast FCU Donation
Gulf Coast Educators team members hold up a receipt from over $2,000 worth of toys purchased for local toy drives.

Throughout the year, Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union employees donate $5 on select days so they can wear denim. The money goes toward donations to local charities or local branches of national charities.

In December, the fund had $3,500, which was put toward toys (and cash donations to support toy drives) in each of the credit union’s local branch cities of Pasadena, League City, and Pearland.

The breakdown of 2014 Denim Day Funds is impressive.

  • $500 to the American Heart Association
  • $150 to the Texas Credit Union Foundation
  • $470 to UHCL Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities
  • $475 for Miracle Jeans Day (Children’s Miracle Network)
  • $200 to ALS Texas Chapter
  • $1500 to local food banks (Houston Food Bank and Galveston Food Bank)
  • $794 to the Pasadena ISD Komen Team
  • $3500 for toys (Pasadena Police Department, League City Police Department and Pearland ISD)

Gulf Coast employees will finish the year having made $7,589 in donations to charities through the Denim Days program.
