Green Country FCU Announces Expansion Approval
Friday, March 18, 2016 6:55 AM

Tulsa-based Green Country Federal Credit Union has announced approval from the National Credit Union Administration to expand their operating locations to Creek, Okmulgee, Osage, Pawnee, Wagoner, Tulsa, and Rogers counties in Oklahoma, in addition to Sand Springs, where the credit union has served members since its creation in 1970.

"I want the people to know we are focused on supporting our communities," said Brandon Grell, president/CEO of Green Country Federal Credit Union.

With the NCUA charter revision approval, Green Country FCU now serves businesses, other legal entities, and persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in the Tulsa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Tulsa MSA consists of Creek, Okmulgee, Osage, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa, and Wagoner counties.

At its founding in 1970, the credit union had 197 members. In its 46 years of operation, membership has increased 5,000 percent, to 9,273.

"In order to remain a viable company and to give back to the communities we serve, we must be able to grow," said Grell. "This is the third change in the charter since the inception of the credit union, but by far it is the most expansive charter revision. We are going from serving the community of Sand Springs—about 20,000 people—to the Tulsa metropolitan area, with more than one million people. We couldn't be more excited about this change."
