Greater Texas CU Unleashes Hope at Austin Humane Society

Greater Good Team
The Greater Texas Credit Union GREATER GOOD Team at Austin Humane Society

Greater Texas Credit Union raised a total of $600 for Austin Humane Society (AHS) through employee fundraising. They also volunteered to deliver hands-on love to the animal shelter’s current residents on May 11.

The event was organized by Teller Supervisor Heather Gutierrez at the Austin credit union's main branch where the local staff held a bake sale, sold breakfast tacos to co-workers, and got monetary donations from volunteers. As part of the newly launched GREATER GOOD initiative, staff were then able to visit AHS and help wash the dogs, give the cats and kitties some play time, and build enrichment projects including toys and snacks.

The Greater Texas GREATER GOOD Volunteering Program is one way of formally demonstrating the credit union’s commitment to supporting employees' passion for service while making a difference in the communities in which it operates. GREATER GOOD encourages volunteering activities to give its people the opportunity to actively contribute to their community and support registered charities and not-for-profit organizations.

AHS has been serving the community since 1952 and is the longest-standing no-kill shelter in Austin. AHS transforms the lives of animals and the people who love them through life-saving programs that find animals homes, serve animals and people in times of crisis, prevent future homelessness though spaying and neutering, and engage the community to be a part of the solution. Over the past year, AHS has unleashed hope for more than 11,000 animals, thanks to the generosity of our donors.
