Greater Texas Credit Union, based in Austin, raised $1,290 for Oak Spring Elementary School through employee and member fundraising to help rebuild the playground that was set on fire on April 29, 2017.

Organized by Marlo Major, BSA compliance officer at the Austin main branch, and the Greater Texas CU marketing team, the local credit union staff held two Fitbit raffles, one for staff and one for members. They also sold snacks in the lobbies of both Austin branches.

Oak Springs Elementary was started in 1958 and has grown to 25 classrooms serving prekindergarten through fifth grade. The school is looking for $20,000 in donations to rebuild the playground. They hope to break ground this summer to have it finished before school starts in the fall.

Greater Texas Credit Union has been an active part in the East Austin community since 1998 when the East Austin Community Federal Credit Union was merged into its charter.
