Good Primary Result for CU-Friendly Lawmakers in Oklahoma
Thursday, June 30, 2016 7:00 AM

Oklahoma’s primary elections were held this past Tuesday, and it was a very good night for candidates supported by the Oklahoma Credit Union Political Action Committee. With only one exception, every state house and senate candidate receiving OCUPAC support advances to the general election or a runoff.

The one exception was incumbent State Rep. Dennis Johnson. The five-term incumbent suffered an unexpected primary defeat.

Cornerstone’s own Robyn Matthews, a candidate for the Oklahoma House of Representatives, advances to the August 23 runoff after finishing second in the four-way primary. Robyn serves as PAC coordinator and legislative liaison for the Oklahoma Association. The winner of the runoff will face Democrat incumbent Cyndi Munson.

On the federal level, each member of the Oklahoma delegation supported by CULAC won their primary contest and advances to the November 8 general election.
