Foundation Chat

To highlight National Employee Wellness Month in June, the National Credit Union Foundation is holding a Twitter chat on Thursday, June 18, at 3 p.m. (CT) to discuss how credit unions include financial wellness as part of their internal programs.

“At the core of every credit union’s mission is the guiding principle to help improve the financial well-being of members, but what are credit unions doing to improve staff’s financial well-being?” said Foundation Director of Communications Christopher Morris. “Financial education is critical to these endeavors and a subject that’s also an integral part of the Foundation’s work to improve people’s financial lives. Naturally then, we are very excited to host this forum for idea sharing around credit unions’ financial wellness programs.”

A 2014 SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) survey found that seven out of ten human resource professionals indicated that personal financial challenges have some or a large impact on their employees’ performance, with about one-half reporting that employee stress (50 percent) and the ability to focus on work (47 percent) are the aspects of employee performance that are most negatively affected by personal financial challenges. The Cambridge Human Resource Group has even said staff’s financial well-being is “the most critical unaddressed workplace issue.”
