Generations Federal Credit Union has once again been named as one of the city's healthiest employers by the San Antonio Business Journal. The 74-year-old credit union was recognized with a First Place finish in the medium-sized employer category and as a local business that has created policies and initiatives that promote the well-being of employees.  This is the second time in the two-year history of the award that Generations has been named to the list.

Winners were recognized by the Business Journal at a group fitness walk along the San Antonio River, followed by a wellness expo and awards breakfast on Thursday, Sept. 18. Generations FCU has strongly promoted its health initiatives to staff including a Step Up Step Out Walking Challenge (which enjoyed a staff participation rate of more than 80%), Lunch 'N Learns and the Humana Vitality program.

Through the Wellness program, Generations staff can earn points by exercising, taking wellness assessments and participating in corporate-wide events such as the 2014 San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup.  Those points can be redeemed for prizes such as iPads, Amazon.com gift cards, pedometers and accessories.  During the eight-week long Step Up Step Out Walking Challenge, Generations staff members walked nearly 30 million steps.  Staff were also given a variety of challenges that encouraged them to incorporate additional steps into their everyday lives.
