GECU Partners with UTEP on Centennial Initiatives
Wednesday, October 23, 2013 7:45 AM

Yesterday, El Paso-based GECU honored the University of Texas at El Paso’s success during UTEP’s Centennial Celebration. GECU helped mark the large milestone with several partnering initiatives that included presenting UTEP with a large permanent tower marquee, hosting interactive cutouts that celebrate UTEP’s historical milestones, lighting major branches and their Operations Center orange at night, and GECU employees will dress in orange UTEP/GECU oxford shirts every Friday for 100 days.

The kick-off of the UTEP 100-day countdown began with a party at the UTEP Centennial Visitor Center. GECU made a dedication to UTEP and unveiled the permanent tower marquee and began the official 100-day countdown to 2014, UTEP’s Centennial year. In addition, 10 interactive cutouts were introduced to the community to be a part of the celebration; the public is encouraged to take photos and share on GECU’s Facebook page.

Crystal Long, GECU president and CEO, said, “GECU strongly supports celebrating this huge milestone with UTEP that took a century to reach. Many generations of members and employees and their family and friends embrace UTEP because they too have been enlightened by UTEP. We’re excited to be a part of our community-wide initiatives that are historic and fun for the entire community to enjoy.”
