GAC Today: Video Highlights from Sunday
Monday, February 22, 2016 6:45 AM

Video of opening day culminates with Daniel Pink’s ED Talk, Exhibit Hall opening reception.

Bestselling business author Daniel Pink headlined Sunday's opening day of CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, DC, with a keynote address Sunday evening in which he underscored the three personal qualities that matter most in selling.

In his ED (Filene) Talk at the Walter E. Washington Center, Pink discussed how the landscape of sales, persuasion, and influence has changed dramatically over the last decade. And he provided social science evidence illustrating how to navigate this new terrain.

Pink’s speech, sponsored by the CUNA Councils, came hours after registration opened for the nearly 5,000 people who will attend GAC, which runs through Thursday.

About 600 attendees are making their GAC debut—but that doesn’t mean they’re new to the credit union movement. Many participants in the first-time attendees' orientation Sunday have spent decades in credit unions. Veterans mingled with others earlier in their careers—including the Crash the GAC contingent, which includes a representative from nearly every U.S. state.

The evening concluded with the Exhibit Hall Grand Opening Reception. Representatives of the 249 vendors stationed at more than 340 booths—the largest exhibit hall at any credit union industry event—conversed with attendees about the merits of their products and services.
