Fort Worth Area CUs Join to Raise Funds for Cook Children’s Hospital
Monday, August 7, 2017 6:45 AM

For the eighth year, Fort Worth credit unions anticipate raising more than $40,000 in one evening to benefit Cook Children’s Medical Center. All proceeds will strengthen the hospital’s therapy dog program, "Sit… Stay… PLAY."

More than 350 credit union staff and friends, including the CEOs and executive teams of EECU, Texas Trust, Fort Worth Community CU, American Airlines, and more have booked all lanes at Cityview Lanes (6601 Oakmont Blvd.), for a bowl-a-thon Tuesday, Aug. 8. Everything starts at 5:30 p.m. with a CEO bowl-off.

The annual bowl-a-thon, Shake, Wag and Bowl, promises an alley-long silent auction, wine pull, raffles, networking, and friendly bowling competition. For more than seven years, the evening’s activities have raised more than $278,000 total.

“Giving back to the community is just such a big part of what credit unions do and what we stand for,” said Terri Johnson, Fort Worth Chapter of Credit Unions board member. "Being able to contribute to the areas where our members live and work is what makes it all worthwhile."

Only a few tickets remain for participation in the event but silent auction items and monetary donations are still being accepted.
