Five CUs in Cornerstone Region Receive Grant from NCUA
Wednesday, September 4, 2013 6:35 AM

Last week, the Leaguer reported on five credit unions in the Cornerstone Region that received a grant from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). One of the credit unions to receive a grant is Tri-County FCU. The Shawnee, Okla.-based credit union is thrilled to have been selected as a grant recipient.

The NCUA awarded 126 grants to low-income designated credit unions across the country through its Community Development Revolving Loan Fund.  Grants can be used to expand services, offer new loan products, or for professional development. Tri-County FCU received a $1,545 professional development grant.

"Being a small credit union, this grant enables us to receive training we wouldn't be able to afford otherwise,” says Sue Lam, manager of Tri-County FCU. “We are very grateful to NCUA for offering these grants.”

Lam says the credit union will utilize the grant to participate in training webinars.

“Being able to utilize training through webinars, where we do not have to leave the office, is invaluable to us."
