Fedstar Shred Day

In collaboration with Embassy Records Management and Storage, FedStar Credit Union held its Annual Community Shred Day on Jan. 31, 2019.

This is an annual event where members and non-members of the credit union are invited to safely dispose of personal documents and records at FedStar Credit Union. More than 320 vehicles brought sensitive documents to be shredded free of charge, and more than   15,000 pounds of shredded documents were collected.

This is the 10th year for the event. The community is so thankful to have a way of disposing sensitive documents safely and security without cost that local residents start calling in early fall to confirm the event date.

“In the age of identity theft, home invasions, and email scams, our community has an opportunity to safely dispose of paper records of personal records and account information that could be stolen," said FedStar President Mary Beth Borroni. "Our community counts on the service we provide every year. We would like to thank the volunteers and staff who assisted with this successful event.”

Embassy Records Management and Storage is a locally owned business, which was on hand to transport the secured bins and shred all documents on-site. In the past, FedStar Credit Union had provided this service exclusively to their members. Due to the success of the shred day event, the credit union has opened the event to residents of the community.
