Federal Reserve District Beige Book Available Now
Friday, December 5, 2014 6:25 AM

Every year, the Federal Reserve District releases a summary of current economic conditions. Commonly known as the Beige Book, the report is published eight times per year.

What you need to know about the Beige Book
The Federal Reserve Bank gathers anecdotal information on current economic conditions in its district through reports from bank and branch directors and interviews with key business contacts, economists, market experts, and other sources. The Beige Book summarizes this information by District and sector. An overall summary of the twelve district reports is prepared by a designated Federal Reserve Bank on a rotating basis.

The December 3, 2014, update of the Beige Book can be found here. It was prepared at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and based on information collected on or before November 24, 2014. This document summarizes comments received from business and other contacts outside the Federal Reserve and is not a commentary on the views of Federal Reserve officials.
