evolve Federal Credit Union Awards Scholarships to Aid College Students
Wednesday, May 29, 2013 6:15 AM

Higher education costs have proven problematic for many students, but evolve Federal Credit Union (eFCU) is doing its part to help take a weight off students' shoulders. Last week, the El Paso-based credit union awarded two students $1,000 each through a semi-annual writing contest, which was created in an effort to ease the costs for higher education.

Ashley Gonzalez Luna, currently a high school senior, won the contest for the high school category, and George Inostroza, currently attending college, won the contest for the college category.

Every year, eFCU holds the semi-annual writing contest in the spring and in summer for two lucky students. The $1,000 scholarships are awarded to one high school senior and one college student.

The contest is open to both members and non-members of the credit union and is typically announced via their social media channels first. Furthermore, students do not need to be attending college within the city in order to participate.

Students interested in participating in the upcoming Summer Writing Contest should follow the credit union on each of its social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The links can be found on their website at
