Entries for Desjardins Youth and Adult Now Being Accepted
Monday, April 1, 2013 10:05 AM

The Texas Credit Union League (TCUL) is now accepting nominations for the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award and the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award.

The Desjardins awards recognize leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of youth and adult financial literacy. They consider all activities supporting the personal finance education of members and nonmembers, including, but not limited to, face-to-face teaching, publicity, teacher and volunteer training, promotion and the use of workplace and classroom educational materials, such as the NEFE High School Financial Planning Program.

When you enter the Desjardins competition, your credit union will compete with others in the same asset category. Individual chapters or groups of credit unions working on youth or adult education activities are eligible to enter the chapter category.

State winners will advance to national competition for judging. All state entries must be submitted to TCUL by Aug. 1, 2013.

The Desjardins award program is an excellent way for your credit union or chapter to be honored for its efforts in youth and adult financial education and serve as an example for others to follow. Increasing awareness for your efforts also helps the credit union movement gain the positive attention of regulators and lawmakers at the state and national levels.
