Dick Ensweiler

This week in Denver, Colorado, things are happening on a global scale. During the opening ceremony of the joint World Credit Union Conference and America's Credit Union Conference, the World Council presented one of four Distinguished Service Awards to Cornerstone Credit Union League President and CEO Dick Ensweiler.

This prestigious award is the industry's top global honor to recognize worthy individuals who have shown great contributions to further the credit union movement outside of their own countries. Ensweiler represents the United States of America. The other three individuals honored were Brazil's Roberto Rodrigues, Canada's Scott Kennedy, and Jamaica's Aloun Ndombet-Assamba.

"The World Council of Credit Unions does amazing work helping to create and support credit unions in cooperative development all over the world," said Ensweiler. "When countries emerge from under dictatorships or communism, credit unions are often the first opportunity people have to assemble freely, elect people to positions, and help their communities rise from adversity. Assisting an organization like this is important and heartwarming. To be recognized for helping them with their significant mission is an honor I am truly proud of."

The World Credit Union Conference and America's Credit Union Conference has welcomed more than 3,000 people from 61 countries at the Colorado Convention Center this week. The event runs from July 12-15. Follow conference activities, including daily event photos, on Facebook and Twitter with #CUinDenver2015.
