On Dec. 16, employees of Energy Capital Credit Union volunteered to spread Christmas cheer by giving out holiday meals and helping in the food pantry for families in need at Heights Interfaith Ministries in Houston.

The Heights Interfaith Ministries is a member of the Houston Food Bank, which means they purchase about 80 percent of their food from the Houston Food Bank at low prices, and the balance of the food comes from donations from the general public. They serve residents in all zip codes of Houston, Texas.

In an email, the credit union wrote that this day of volunteerism is "just another way we continue to live out our core credit union values of #PeopleHelpingPeople every day."

ECCU Chief Operations Officer Kanika Boutte said, “This was such a rewarding and memorable event. I hope to participate in more of these. It felt great to give back.”
