Energize CU Hosts Rural Electric Co-op CUs from Five States
Tuesday, October 27, 2015 6:40 AM

Oklahoma City-based Energize Credit Union hosted a group of rural electric cooperative credit unions from Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina on Oct. 6.

The group began networking three years ago to share best practices for those serving rural electric cooperatives. Presenters at the Third Annual Meeting included Ice Storm expert and SPIA Ice Index Founder Sid Sperry with the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives, and former Oklahoma Attorney General and OAEC General Counsel Larry Derryberry.

Amy Downs, with Allegiance Credit Union, also met with the group to share her story of surviving the Oklahoma City Bombing, which observes its 20th anniversary of the event this year. Downs had worked in the credit union located inside the Murrah Federal Building when the bombing occurred. The group met beneath the Survivor Tree, on the grounds of the memorial.

The attendees enjoyed lunch at the Credit Union House Board Room, and met later that evening for dinner on the 49th floor of the Devon Energy Tower.
