El Paso Chapter of Credit Unions Hosts Bel Air Reality Fair
Tuesday, May 28, 2013 6:10 AM

College years require quite a bit of budgeting, so the El Paso Chapter of Credit Unions did their part to improve financial literacy among a group of high school seniors about to kick off their college careers.

Last Thursday, the El Paso Chapter of Credit Unions hosted a Reality Fair at the Bel Air High School. Students participating in the program chose a career and built a budget based on their career salary and lifestyle choices.

Stations were set up in the high school cafeteria, ranging from the Electric Company Station to cable and phone. The students were tasked with having to purchase items they’d like to have in real life, while still adhering to their budget.

The El Paso Chapter of Credit Unions is a non-profit, collective group of individuals belonging to a variety of area credit unions. Its purpose is to promote unity among credit unions through communication, training and participation in community, state and national projects that support the cooperative spirit of the credit union movement.
