Education Credit Union Chairman Cody Myers

Education Credit Union has been named National Credit Union of the Year. This annual award is presented by the National Association of Federally Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) and recognizes the excellence and achievements of credit unions.

Gregg Bynum, president/CEO, was excited to say that he is "very proud of Education Credit Union and the legacy of service. Our credit union started in February 1935 to serve our membership because other financial providers did not want to deal with some depositors and small, unsecured loans. We have won numerous state and local awards the last few years. We even won a couple of national awards for our youth financial education program. But, winning this award, Credit Union of the Year from NAFCU, is an incredible achievement for us. We strive daily to do the right thing for our members and to be good corporate citizens and neighbors for the communities we serve. It all goes back to service and our staff. Education Credit Union has the best employees in the Texas Panhandle.”

“Education Credit Union has long been recognized for its superior member service and steadfast support of education and communities throughout the Panhandle," said Chairman Cody Myers. "The management and employees of ECU are world class in friendliness, efficiency, and strategy, which has led to an unbelievable stretch of financial achievement for our members in recent years.”

“As chairman of the ECU board of directors, I can say that I speak for the entire board," continued Myers. "We are absolutely thrilled to have been named the NAFCU Credit Union of the Year in our asset class! While we give our excellent staff credit for this designation, we all realize that we serve a quality member base that is ultimately responsible for our success. Education Credit Union is member-based and member-driven. My sincere hope is that the Panhandle of Texas community will celebrate this achievement alongside us.”
