Tuesday, February 10, 2015 6:55 AM

East Texas Professional Credit Union has announced that its request for a field of membership expansion to a community charter in Panola County has been approved by the Texas Credit Union Department. This charter will allow ETPCU to open membership to everyone who lives or works in Panola County.

"Our credit union began serving school system employees in Panola County more than 50 years ago," said ETPCU President and Chief Executive Officer Byron Norton. "We're enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve the financial needs of all Panola County residents."

The Credit Union offers an array of financial services, including savings and checking accounts, debit and credit cards, consumer and mortgage loans, business services, internet banking, online bill payer, and mobile banking.

"We will begin construction on a new office in Carthage later this year," said Norton. "We look forward to providing the same high-quality service to members from this location as we do in our other ten East Texas Professional Credit Union offices."

ETPCU was established in 1953. It has grown to become the largest credit union in East Texas, and the 18th largest credit union in the state with more than $535 million in assets and 60,000 members.

Membership in East Texas Professional Credit Union is available to anyone who lives or works in Anderson, Angelina, northern Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rusk, Smith, and Upshur counties. For more information, visit or call (903) 323-0230.
