Dynamic Father and Daughter Duo Share How to Get Most from Age-diverse Workforce at Upcoming Conference
Tuesday, July 8, 2014 6:45 AM

History is in the making. Never before has four generations occupied the workplace as they do now:

  • Traditionals - AKA the Greatest Generation. Born before 1945.
  • Baby Boomers - AKA the Woodstock Generation. Born between 1946 and 1964.
  • Generation Xers - AKA Latch Key Kids. Born between 1965 and 1980.
  • New Millennials - AKA the Entitled Ones. Born after 1980.

Each of these cohorts possess widely differing sets of expectations and perceptions of what the working environment will provide, how managers will manage them, how they will manage others, and how, as employees, they should behave.

At the Cornerstone Credit Union League’s upcoming Leadership Conference and Expo, Larry and Meagan Johnson, a dynamic father and daughter duo will examine how each generation has been influenced by major historical events, social trends, and cultural phenomena of their time, shaping their ideas about company loyalty, work ethic, and the definition of a job well done. Their session, Getting the Most from an Age-diverse Workforce, explores which generations work best in teams; how to tailor feedback and coaching that is appropriate for different age groups, and how to develop a one-size fits all retention strategy for your multigenerational workplace.

“Authentic Leadership” is the theme for this Sept. 4-6 conference in San Antonio, which features 24 educational sessions, three general sessions, and four best practice panel discussions. At this year’s conference, participants will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge, fine-tune their skillsets, network with their peers, share best practices, and explore available resources and solutions in the Expo Hall.

Also, don’t miss your opportunity to play a round of golf – all while supporting the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation.
