Monday, July 24, 2017 6:55 AM

DATCU Credit Union, working with United Way of Denton, raised $16,719 this year with a Jet Ski raffle. Net proceeds will be used to help United Way of Denton County in their support of 20 partner agencies focused on making lives better for people residing in Denton County, including children, seniors, families, and veterans, as well as those experiencing homelessness and mental illness.

The majority of funds were raised by DATCU employees who sold tickets to members in their branches and to people throughout the community.

The winner of the Jet Ski, valued at $10,847, was DATCU member Carolyn Wright.

DATCU is a long-time Pacesetter Partner for United Way of Denton County. “Giving back to our community is a significant part of our culture," said President/CEO Glen McKenzie. "We are excited about the success we achieved this first year of the raffle fundraising initiative. We extend our thanks and appreciation to everyone who purchased tickets and also to Kenny Martin at Cycle Center of Denton who contributed to our efforts."
