Data Breach Resources for Credit Unions and Their Members

Data SecurityIn view of the extraordinary data breach at Equifax, credit unions have been reaching out to Cornerstone Credit Union League with questions. While credit unions do not have specific regulatory obligations with regard to third-party breaches like Equifax, as member-owned cooperatives, credit unions are ready to assist their members in whatever ways are available.

Cornerstone has set up a dedicated resource page in response to the data breach, which may be helpful for credit unions and their members alike.

Consumers may want to verify whether their personal information has been affected and take steps that may limit the potential for identity theft. Credit unions may also consider revisiting guidance related to authenticating members' identities and identity theft red flags:
