Dallas CU Gives Scholarships to Dallas Area HS Seniors

Dallas Credit Union (DCU) gave away three $1,000 Funding the Future scholarships to local graduating high school seniors. The Funding the Future recipients demonstrated excellence in academic achievement and community service, continuing the tradition of previous scholarship recipients.

“We’re so excited and proud to continue our commitment to higher education by offering our annual Funding the Future scholarship,” said Dallas Credit Union CEO Dee Pennington. “These graduates' dedication and community contribution proves the credit union philosophy of People Helping People has been a principle in their lives.”

Recipients were chosen based on grade point average, honors and awards, school and community activities, as well as a written essay on increased financial pressure this year’s college students will face and their

understanding of money management and its practical application.

DCU says they are honored to provide financial assistance to their young members as they continue to pursue educational goals. The scholarship winners may use their funds toward any accredited undergraduate program at a college, trade school, or university of their choice.

“We could not be more proud of our young members and to be a part of the journey they are starting,” Pennington said. “Recognizing young leaders in our community and helping them obtain their financial goals has always been very important to us.”


Recipients of the Funding the Future Scholarship are:

  • Sedley Jones, Desoto High School, attending University of Mary Hardin Baylor
  • Whitley Womack
