Dallas Chapter of CUs Hosts Congressman Pete Sessions
Wednesday, August 16, 2017 7:00 AM

Pete Sessions
Texas Congressman Pete Sessions (District 32) meets with Dallas Chapter of Credit Unions.

Approximately 95 credit union professionals gathered Monday at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen in Dallas for a meeting of the Dallas Chapter of Credit Unions featuring Congressman Pete Sessions. Sessions represents Congressional District 32 and is the chairman of the House Rules Committee in Washington, DC.

Cornerstone's VP Political Affairs Gretchen Ziegler, who has known Sessions since he went into office in 1996, introduced him to the Dallas Chapter members. He noted that he failed in his first run for office, but credit unions stuck by him and helped him win the seat the following election.

Sessions talked about his past experience and explained why the Rules Committee he chairs is so powerful. He also spoke about the political environment in DC.

Sessions is a longtime, proud credit union member. The credit union mission resonates with him and, as he has said often, he understands the value of the credit union tax-exempt status.

"Congressman Sessions has been a longtime friend of credit unions dating all the way back to HR 1151, and his support has remained constant ever since," said Ziegler. "The credit unions in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are lucky to be represented by such a committed, powerful member of Congress."
