Cy-Fair FCU Makeover Winner

Annual competition supports Cypress-Fairbanks teachers, enhances classroom learning

Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union continues its commitment to improving the classrooms of local students as part of its annual Extreme Classroom Makeover competition. This year, three Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District teachers received $500 to enhance their respective elementary, middle, or high school classrooms to maximize learning and promote student participation. The credit union also awarded $150 to three runners-up.

“Cy-Fair FCU has a rich history and deep involvement with the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD,” said Cy-Fair FCU President and CEO Cameron Dickey. "The purpose of our annual Extreme Makeover competition is to invest in our local schools and support local teachers as they improve the learning experience for their students."

Cy-Fair FCU Makeover WinnerThis year Cy-Fair FCU distributed the awards before an audience of the recipients’ peers at the annual Cy-Fair ISD Rigor, Relevance, Relationships Teacher Conference. Each recipient received a special mention before the keynote address of the conference.

The competition began 11 years ago, and Cy-Fair FCU has now awarded more than $17,000 to local teachers for classroom makeovers. The recipients of Cy-Fair FCU’s 2018 Extreme Classroom Makeover include:

$500 Recipients:

  • Heather Cox, Cy-Fair High School
  • Amy Hale, Hopper Middle School
  • Darrell Abramowitz, Danish Elementary

$150 Runner-Up Recipients:

  • Katina Politte, Cy-Lakes High School
  • Lauren Jackson, Campbell Middle School
  • Jeanna Pena, Lamkin Elementary
