Gulf Coast Educators FCU Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week by Honoring Family Members & Announcing Award Winners

Gulf Coast Educators Celebrates Teacher Appreciation WeekGulf Coast Educators was founded in 1948 by a group of Pasadena ISD teachers. To this day, the credit union remains committed to serving teachers and other school district employees. To celebrate teacher appreciation week, the employees decided to show their family members who teach how appreciative they are of the great work they do.

Staff members had signs with the name of their family member who teaches printed and shared with others why they appreciate the job their family member does. One of the credit union’s team members has seven teachers in her immediate family while several others had two or more. The credit union’s CEO, Linda Lukaszewski has a daughter who teaches in Deer Park ISD’s Fairmont Elementary.

“Watching my daughter’s journey in teaching I personally understand the difficulties and sacrifices that teachers make every day, at GCEFCU we are very proud to be able to recognize these outstanding teachers and their tireless commitment to education” says Lukaszewski.

Gulf Coast Educators selected six teachers to receive its 2014 Appreciated Teacher Award. A committee selected the recipients from almost 200 nominations. Each recipient received a $100 honorarium, a $100 donation to the school in their honor and an award.

SSFCU Named Skillsoft 2014 Innovation Award Winner

Security Service FCU (SSFCU)  has been recognized with a 2014 Innovation Award for Effective Elearning in Small and Medium Enterprises from Skillsoft, a pioneer in the field of technology-delivered learning. The credit union received the award in April at the 2014 Global Skillsoft Perspectives, Skillsoft’s annual user conference in Las Vegas.

Skillsoft annually honors customers for their significant achievements in corporate learning and development, recognizing innovative ideas and inspiring leaders who are helping to transform the learning landscape.

SSFCU received the award for Effective Elearning in Small and Medium Enterprises, and was honored for implementing learning programs that directly impact its business objectives. In particular, the program supports the development of managers and supervisors, and has led to increased employee engagement and revenue, and decreased employee turnover.

“We are thrilled to receive this award, particularly because one of our core values is ‘Innovative.’  Investing in our employees is a top priority, and by taking full advantage of Skillsoft technology, we are able to use the most effective means of enabling our employees to learn and grow,” said Molly Daniels, senior vice president of human resources at SSFCU.

Shell FCU: Everyone’s Gotta Eat

The Furthering Community Unity (FCU) Team’s annual ‘Everyone’s Gotta Eat’ food drive powered by Shell FCU kicked off May 1.  The food drive is hosted during the month of May to help fill the shelves of local food pantries before for the summer months.  Non-perishable food items for people and pets are being collected at all eight Shell FCU locations throughout May.

The FCU Team partners with local elementary schools for this annual event. Students are given a lunch sack to decorate with their family and return to their school with a food drive donation. Assisting with the food drive not only helps others, but teaches the students social responsibility. The FCU Team works with eight elementary schools and donates to 15 food pantries and animal shelters.

The FCU Team powered by Shell FCU was created to provide opportunities for giving back in our communities and teaching the value of social responsibility in a fun team setting.
