CUs Encouraged to Celebrate International CU Day Oct. 17
Monday, October 7, 2013 6:35 AM

Oct. 17 is International Credit Union Day, and the Cornerstone Credit Union League is encouraging credit unions to celebrate this special day by engaging in such activities as hosting an open house, conducting a membership drive, and holding contests and fundraisers to help out their local communities. For more ideas on how to celebrate, visit the International CU Day page on the League’s website, at www.cornerstoneleague.coop/icu_day_2013.html.

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union difference. This year’s theme, “Credit Unions Unite for Good: A Better Way,” emphasizes the benefits of cooperation among credit unions worldwide. It also speaks to the powerful global network of 56,000 credit unions, which no other financial institution can claim, and the advantages that result from sharing challenges, experiences and solutions with one another to better serve members.

League-affiliated credit unions are encouraged to share how they will be celebrating International Credit Union Day, by emailing your plans to lwebb-manon@cornerstoneleague.coop.
