CUNA Offers Free MAP Webinar to Educate and Advocate
Thursday, September 8, 2016 6:50 AM

For the first time, Credit Union National Association will hold a webinar for credit unions enrolled in MAP (the Member Activation Program) on Monday, Sept. 12, at 3 p.m. EST. This is an excellent opportunity for all MAP credit unions to gather to discuss the future of the program and its campaigns.

MAP credit unions and state leagues are invited to participate.

Said Angela McCathran, one of the early users of MAP and the CEO of People's Trust Federal Credit Union in Houston, "I've communicated with my membership on multiple occasions and have only received positive feedback on the way we engage with them using MAP. Research shows that credit union members who receive these types of messages from their credit union CEOs actually become more loyal members, and that seems to hold true for us. Not only does MAP provide an avenue to communicate our advocacy message, but we have found it’s also a great educational tool.”

When a new campaign is introduced, credit unions are encouraged to use the CUNA-provided MAP template to contact their members; however, it’s up to the CEO to determine what messages will work best for them.

"MAP is another tool in our arsenal that allows us to raise our advocacy efforts to the next level," said Cornerstone Credit Union League VP Political Affairs Gretchen Ziegler. "As issues facing credit unions increasingly impact our members, MAP provides a perfect opportunity to not only engage members in advocacy but also to educate them about the benefits of credit union membership."

For the Sept. 12 webinar, the CUNA political affairs teams will bring attendees up to date on recent happenings, get participants' opinions and feedback on the program, and provide a forum for asking questions.

Additional topics to be addressed include a recap of the program's latest results, a wrap-up of the Ease the Burden campaign, and a preview of the next MAP campaign: a reprise of Strong Credit Unions, Strong Middle Class before the fall elections.

If you haven't had a chance, please watch the latest MAP video, which provides a synopsis of the research and facts garnered from MAP and other CUNA research. The five takeaways highlighted are integral to the messaging of our campaigns.

Attendance is free but pre-registration is required, so please reserve your spot here.

Cornerstone and CUNA hope to see you at this webinar on Sept. 12!
